About BITS Pilani

BITS Pilani, a private deemed university located in Pilani, announces the launch of a new PhD programme, PhD-DRIVE for supporting startup creation. With a campus size of 328 Acres, this university campus size is sufficient to host all academic buildings. Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani, or BITS Pilani, was established in 1964 to offer higher education in the region.

BITS Pilani is a National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited university with an 'A' grade with a CGPA of 3.45 on a four-point scale. BITS Pilani admission is provided on the basis of the student's performance in the BITSAT exam, which is the entrance examination conducted by the university. The university releases the BITS Pilani cutoff based on the BITSAT exam, and those who meet the cutoff can proceed with the further admission process.

Direct Admission to Board Toppers - BITS Pilani offers direct admission to board toppers. Be it, central board or state boards. Candidates must have opted for PCM/PCB in class 12 to be eligible.
International Student Admission Scheme - Eligible students must have a minimum score of 1160 (out of a maximum of 1600) in SAT (reasoning), which includes a Reading, Writing and Language and Math test.

For admission to BITS Pilani, candidates first need to be eligible for the course and then appear in the BITSAT 2023. It is a tier 1 college, obviously one of the best in the country for pursuing engineering and sciences. The placements are better than offered by most engineering colleges, which is crucial given the current job market. Student life is also full of fun and never dull. Strict policies against bullying and sexual harassment are also implemented. The campus feels safe and also begins to feel like home in the years spent here. The food, although could never beat that consumed at home, is actually edible and good, contrary to most food served in hostels nationwide.

BITS Pilani Campus Facilities and Infrastructure

Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), one of India’s leading higher education institutes and a deemed university under Sec. 3 of the UGC act. BITS campus at Pilani, Rajasthan, was established through a Ford Foundation Grant and technical partnership with MIT (USA), and it was later recognised as a university in 1964.

Covered with wooded paths and spread over 328 acres, the campus is self-contained and houses all the amenities and buildings that befit an institute of international standards.

The programmes are fully residential with 11 hostels for boys and one hostel complex for girls. Around 4500 students live on campus along with 350 faculty members, their families and a vast pool of support staff.

The campus also boasts of a magnificent library complex with a floor area of 65,000 sq. ft and a rich collection of about 2,30,000 volumes of books and manuscripts.

An intellectual powerhouse, the campus has successfully attracted healthy amounts of research funding from government grants and private bodies. The research facilities are wide-ranging, with a number of laboratories focused on all aspects of science and technology. The campus boasts of the latest network that provides connectivity to the entire institute.
